What Celtic Frost once started with ”Into The Pandemonium” in 1987, Therion was continuing up till Theli, where they broke loose and started a musical revolution of their own! Nevertheless, Chris has mentioned 2 records that are responsible for starting what led to the ideas of developing metal into what Therion was on the first 4 records:

For the records from Vovin and onwards, Chris say that the inspiration comes from both classic and opera composers like Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss, heavy metal acts from the 80’s like Accept and Iron Maiden, 70’s hard rock bands like Uriah Heep... and tons of progressive 70’s bands that nobody knows anymore these days.
